How it Began
In 1977, daughter Linda Brown was an eager 4-H member. At just 15 years old, Linda perfected her “cherry puddings” and zucchini breads in our home kitchen. Her creations turned out to be so delicious, we began to share them with eager customers at the old fruit stand, and they were a great way for Linda to earn college money. Customers began to expect baked goods when they visited, and Nona added to the selection with her apple dumpling recipe which an employee baked in her kitchen. When our first farm market on the hill was completed in 1986, we included a bakeshop with homemakers as the bakers. Even then, we never anticipated how successful it would be… |

The Bake Shop Today

Today, 25 full and part-time employees work 'round the clock bakery shifts in our state-of-the-art kitchen to create special treats. The cherry puddings Linda made famous are still made every day of the year and those delicious apple dumplings are in demand all winter! Made-from-scratch fresh fruit pies have become a Brown's specialty, using our own homegrown fruits in season. Our ovens can accommodate 195 pies at a time! The three days before Thanksgiving, we make 3800 pies in addition to other items! |
Come and watch Brown's team of cake decorators in action, working in their own special room. Choose from an unbelievable variety of other taste-tempting treats too, including:
