 Telling your children how food grows is one thing. Walking with your child through rows of trees, helping them pick their own fruit, and then preparing it with them at home is another. It's a valuable learning opportunity and an experience they will never forget.
Brown's encourages families to plan outings in our Southern York County, PA orchards during each fruit season. We offer pick-your-own strawberries, cherries, blueberries, apples and pumpkins when in season. Check here for more information, and be sure to call our Loganville store (717-428-2036) before you make your final plans as availability changes daily due to weather conditions. Afterward, stop by our Pavilion Snack Bar for an ice cream sundae or smoothie. Then sit and relax as you watch your children play on our beautiful new playground. Even at times pick-your-own is not available, a jaunt to our orchards is a great idea any time of the year. Have your child choose a favorite tree, then come back again and again to watch that tree grow and change through the seasons. Take pictures and compare, or have them draw their own pictures of what the tree looks like. Keep a journal. Step into our Honey House (below the Pavilion) and watch the bees at work in an observation hive. Talk about how important bees are in making fruit grow.
